| | you need to actually measure the hub. Go to www.wheelpro.co.uk it has a spokecalc and shows you what bits to measure. Bear in mind theres a few different versions of open pros, best to find the ERD from the website etc, or measure it yourself using two cutoff spokes (instructions on that website) Oh, wrong section too! |

| | More of your rubbish! 700c Mavic Open Pro's are 605 ERD. There are may different mavic open series rims. Open pro builds I have done, all 32h Phils HF 290mm On-one HF 294mm (plenty spare) Miche double sided HF 294mm (plenty spare) So I would go with Dogs wisdom on this, he has built alot of wheels, or maybe add 2mm to be on the same side. |

| | nope, I have not used open pros personally, but have noticed a few different types and thought it would be helpful to tell the OP to look out for this. Fair enough if the ERD on all of them is the same, thats why I said to check the Mavic website! Lots of people refer to all the rims as open pros, the same way people call all velocity's 'deepV's' when in fact theres loads of different types. |

| | it just seems like you'd need three hands to do it that way! also, you're introducing two additional sources of error doing it this way. 1) making sure the spokes are cut to exactly the right length 2) make sure the spokes are aligned correctly and seated in the rim whereas by connecting two spokes using a rubber band, the tension in the band ensures that the spokes are aligned/seated correctly. then measure between the nipples, add 2x nipple length, job's a good'un. |
