Open sport vs CXp22 with system ex

I've decided i'd rather go with local bike shop than order from london. They've quoted me

£145 for wheel set with Systen ex hubs and Mavic Open Sport

Or

£153 for System ex with cxp22's

Thats built up with some tubes and tyres for £10 extra.

Which would people recommend?

To go on this conversion ---

the lower profile of the pros might help with a more classic look

sorry, misread, only in quality really, not much difference in profile. I have an open sport on my front wheel, been fine so far.

I'm curious - has anyone ever tried bombing their wheels? In the event of a nuclear apocalypse, is crouching next to your bike the safest thing to do?

i have CXP22s but cannot vouch for their bomb-resistance.

I'm not sure i can take the plunge before hearing direct evidence of their bomb resistance. some kind of before and after photos would suffice.

Is £155 a good deal for that setup? or should I try haggling down?

oh... i didn't think... are they dishing the wheel to get the chain-line?

Those Miche/OpenPros are built to a 42mm chainline and 120mm spacing.

Well I can get the same rims, so it's a Miche vs System ex really... from what i've seen they're pretty similar. I've spoken with the outspoken guy and he'll let me order tomorrow. So I could go with them, but i'd like to use my local bike shop, but might beat them down on price a little. Would pro vs CXP22's come out in favour of pro's and if so what price built up should I go for?

Open Pros are very good, and better than CXP22s. Miche hubs are... probably a bit better than System X.

The people of Outspoken are really helpful.

Yes, I think we're good to go, i'll see if he'll knock it down a little or throw in tubes and tyres... should be good! can't wait to get riding. Need some forks first, and a sadle, sproket, seat, seatpost, pedles, brakes, but not far off.
