read the Tand C's often they use these competitions to grab the rights to your images so they can do what they want with them afterward.
not saying this is the case but do read the small print.

almost every competition states in the small print something around "we own your image, every other image you've produced, and every image you produce in the future.

in this case it's limited to TFL using it for their publicity for this competition.

"By submitting a qualifying photograph and text you agree that the promoter has an irrevocable and royalty free right to use and reproduce the qualifying photograph and text for the purposes of this competition and related publicity."

surprising.

TFL's T&Cs seem pretty standard.

T&Cs that made the photographer give up all rights to past and future images (probably) wouldn't be enforceable in court.

:: Your photos

Hi there,
Thanks for submitting these photos to the Cycle London
group. Unfortunately they look as if they might be
encouraging unsafe cycling.
As a result we can't accept them into the group.
Please feel free to submit other images which meet our
criteria.
Best wishes

Send them a pic of a smiling family in fluros riding serenely past an Evans store with the London Eye in the background. You'll win the comp.

they rejected it sadly, on the ground that it's an 'unsafe' photo, taking a snap of the bike without holding the handlebar.

it was this one;

Bastards !! Health and safety is extending it's remit into art now ?

They should take a look around the National gallery or perhaps the Tate and check for any breaches of H&S depicted in the paintings.

;P

This one here is a fucking accident waiting to happen !! . . .

Seems that one of the winning photos didn't even involve a bike:

yeah this one

I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere - either taken by the editor of urban75 or submitted to an urban75 photo competition.

WTF it has to do with cycling I have no idea.

Pretty disgusted that the photographers' names aren't shown.

I thought the photos were in the main pretty lame.

The subject in the winning photograph had a flat rear tyre.

In the winning entry the cyclist is about to hit one of those bastard grates because she is distracted by the street art. Safe cycling indeed.

My friend use to rent one of them, for his film company, they're not actually that expensive, although the only way up was via a REALLY REALLY shakey bit of scaffolding.

the people in the train under his were a graffiti/graphic design crew, hence all of the changing designs all the time.
