Brake headset interface problem

so i recently finished shallows track bike, and the shrimano ultrgra headset is rubbing on the tiagra brake it rubs worst when the bars are straight. Am I right in thinking all I need is a washer behind the brake (and probably to change the brake bolt for the longer one)?

Had a similar problem (twice) Once I added a spacer washer, the other time I filed the top of the calliper away, both seem to work well.

cheers, what did you use to space it? just a washer from the diy shop with the top filled flat, or something bike specific?

Any spare inner-tube valve nuts will also do the job, you have to push them on quite hard
