Anyone familiar with picasa?

Ive just made an account, got the upload tool and upped a few pics.

I want to use it to host images, to give me http direct links so I can paste em into posts on forums like this one etc..

Is this possible or what? Cant seem to figure it out.

Ive always used photobucket, but have been increasingly uneasy about the fact the my entire gallery is available for random public view!

Suggestions appreciated.

tom.
Once the picture is uploaded, click on it so you can see it full size. To the right it'll say "link in e-mail" and "link on webpage". Select the largest thumbnail size (800px?) and copy the code it generates (the e-mail code, that is).

You can then paste the code it generated or delete the bits that link to the album.

Hope that helps.

picassa is good for organising pics on your computer but i dont really rate it for hosting, but i've never tried to be honest. I use photobucket, but flicker is also good for hosting.

I dowloaded the full app and it went mad straight away, searching through ALL the media on my two 300gb drives.

Couldnt stop the fooker, had to unistall it.

Most of the pictures I have incorrect metadata as I forget to set it on my camera etc when the battery runs out.

Plus the software doesnt run on my mac, and Iphoto is basically the same thing.

SO I just got the upload tool which is better.

Ill try to see if I can get direct links from the hosting, havent quite figured it out yet.

I've used picasa to upload photos to be displayed on here. Originally did it when the forum was still on Vanilla, and found it very easy to use, sorry to here you're having difficulty.

Tom's instructions sound about right, although I do remember having to trim some HTML code away from the URL when it was pasted into Vanilla, dunno if that still applies.
