| | "this is london my friend" is all i can say! when riding a bike in london it's not a matter of "if" you have an accident, but "when" you will have an accident. they happen and in this case, the guy is fine, so move on. all this crap about "sueing" them is totally crap. this just drives the divide between cyclists and rest. |

| | And not sueing just makes us look like a bunch of push overs that people can ignore and shove out of the way in potentially lethal ways because there's no come back on it. Cyclists have a right and a reasonable expectation to be treated in an equitable fashion. If this drives a divide between us and everyone else, then when we rejoin it will be more likely to be on a more even playing field. I for one refuse to wear my vulnerability like a hairshirt. |

With one eye witness account its tough to know what really went on, and to hear or see an incident with a cyclist is sickening. but the danger is a big part of the fun. You are spot on with the eye contact and acknowledgement. it goes such a long way to making the drivers pay more respect to us. | |

| | Dogs I don't think anyone wants to sue anyone but these accidents have to be reported. I was interested to know if the police was involved but I can't make any sense of Nosferatu's story. It sounds like Nosferatu got back on his bike, waved bye bye to the driver "no harm done mate" and that the driver (in a state of shock) continued driving his big bus with passengers. Sounds very strange to me as as far as I am concerned if I have an accident like this I want the police to be present (even if they are useless) and I imagine that bus drivers have a duty to report what happened so he can be assessed if they are fit to drive. Your first reaction was that it was Nosferatu's fault, that's how the majority of people think when a cyclist is involved in an accident and this is why accidents are ignored or dismissed. |

| | all im sayin is i wasnt badly hurt, if i was then obviously i would take it more seriously, but i was lucky to get away not to hurt and with no damage to my bike, id rather it was a lowkey thing as i dont like everyone running over asking if im alright when im just on my way to my mates, and in a state of shock/happy to be alive. and im pretty sure the bus driver wasn't intentional as he was shaking and some old guy |

| | Hello - first post, been a lurker for a while and founds lots of interesting things, but never had anything interesting enough to contribute! Basically I was shunted from behind by a 'bendy' bus whilst riding along Regent Street this morning. I wasn't really hurt (couple of slightly bloody finger tips, swollen elbow, aching hip) and my bike wasn't too badly damaged (ripped up bar tape, scratched up toe clip, both wheels buckled but rideable). Could take a while to explain the accident and I don't want to bore you on my first post but it was his fault, he said he didn't see me, despite the fact he'd overtaken me seconds before and I was in front of him at some red lights when he pulled away and hit my back wheel. The driver stopped (along with a couple of nice pedestrians who didn't actually witness the moment of impact but hung around to check I was OK) and I got his details...driver number, bus number/registration. He wouldn't give me his name but despite the fact that I was thinking pretty straight I managed to give him my name and address which I really regret. I'm going to contact TFL with all the details, but I just wondered if any of you guys had been through this process and had any handy tips to send my way. I'm not into ripping anyone off I just want them to cover the cost of getting my bike repaired (and perhaps a little extra for my aching hip and elbow!). I'm pretty sure I've read a thread along similar lines in the past, but having searched this was the closest I could find. Cheers Pete. |

| | Ouch - glad you are OK. Here is the thread with info (roxy's) : http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4213.html Buses have cameras to protect the driver and other road users, the footage will be invaluable. Welcome, and good luck getting some compensation. |
