well, where im staying is an expensive flat in a posh courtyard on kingsland road and two folk were inside but upstairs and the front door was a tiny jar open, some cunt came into the courtyard and popped in and took my bike.
i was at work all day, had a shite day and finished, switched on my phone and i had a text saying we had been burgled!

its so annoying, i LOVED my bike, i had it set beautifully to ride

wee rat faced cunts!

ive calmed down a bit and realised one of two things can come out of this...

either i get my bike back or i claim it on insurance and get a brand new one....

im still frustrated as fuck for the fact some wee smug cunt has taken my bike and wont give it two thoughts and for the inconvenience

At least the bike wasn't those expensive keirin/bob jackson/whatnot one, it's simply a Fuji that can easily be replaced.

I'm not going all "get over it", I sympathise with you, I merely pointed out that it's a pretty straightforward bike you can get again, than a rare bike like a bigger size Nagasawa.

That is bad luck, I would ask your flatmates each for £170 or to cover your rent whilst you buy a new bike.

wait, you were insured?

in which case, congratulations mate, beers are on you! It was a nice bike, but now you can have a nicer one!

edit: dude, you're unlikely to be insured if the door was open. your mates should pay. And you should lock your bike up inside..

proper bad luck.

Kick both of your flatmates in the face for being idiots for leaving the door open. That is beyong retarded. Next time, move their laptop/other valuable downstairs so if it happens again they feel what it's like!

Agreed. I hope you didn't tell the police exactly how the flat was 'broken' into, it will scupper any chance of your insurers paying out. Mine expect special locks on doors and windows etc.

Fingers crossed they sort it out for you dude. And yeah, kick your mates in the throat.

I wonder if there's some kind of self-selection bias because so many people on this forum live around the Dalston/Hackney area - ie that the number of bikes stolen per head of population is relatively even, it's just that with a larger population in east London the number of bikes reported stolen in east london is higher. Just in terms of the forum.

Anyway, really crap your ride got nicked - +1 to the "don't tell the police the door was left open" advice, and lecture your housemates about security.

Wouldn't leave my front door open anywhere in the world tbh!

Mate, i'm truly gutted for you.
Same thing happened to me a few weeks back -same area.
I just settled my claim with the insurers- big tip, obviously leave out the fact that one of your flat mates is a spaztard when it comes to security and dont ever mention it may of been left in a communal hallway as your insurance will be worth fuck all.
I s'pose you could add add a little 'creative/collateral damage' to your door frame(potatochop may come in handy here)
Console yourself with fact that there is a probably going to be newbuild on the horizon.

(In no way does Tragic or any of it's affiliates adhere to, support or condone any of the above behaviour.)

Harsh, that happened in my block recently when some cunt left the main door open, 2 bikes stolen from the communal hall, i keep mine in my flat so was lucky, the guy who left the door open felt pretty bad and coughed up 200 quid towards getting new bikes for the unlucky owners. I would find out who left the door open and give em a right bolcking.
