| | Bike parking Dear all, interested to know if there are any action groups etc to try and get better facilities for cyclists in London. If yu know who to peak to, please post it here. :) I'm not talking about those daft cycle lanes either...since they're more of a hazard than a help....no, I'm talking about fairly basic stuff like some dedicated and secure places to lock bikes up. I've noted on too many an occasion now, getting into the centre of town and having to drift about for 20 mins looking for a place that is secure enough to lock my gike to and that hasn't got a sign up saying: "bicycles locked to these railings will be removed" There are indead a few places floating about dedicated for bikes to lock to, but they are almost always fully used. More facilities are required and guidance from cyclists on where to put the things is needed! |

| | Maybe I don't spend enough time in the really popular and really central spots, but I haven't encountered any problems. I'm quite paranoid, so I'm willing to walk an extra 5 minutes to wherever it is I'm going, just for the sake of leaving my bike locked to a proper stand in a nicer neighborhood (e.g. leave my bike in St James Square and walk to Piccadilly Circus). I use these 2 maps to locate where proper inverted-U cycle stands are: City of Westminster (official): http://www.westminster.gov.uk/fmn/in...3&LGSL=546,547 Borough of Camden (unofficial): http://www.camdencyclists.org.uk/cam...ogle-map-01-07 |

Its very similar to the 11th one down on the left had side: http://bricklanebikes.co.uk/gallery I won't leave it locked inside. I was hoping Corsica might have an in-door room for bikes or something. | |
