What is it with French roadies?

Just got back in from a 5 hour ride, lots of mind blowing up hills, and seriously smile inducing downhills!I must have passed or been passed by well over 100 roadies, and acknowledged all of them, a wave or nod. But only a handful returned te acknowledgement, am i doing something wrong??!In the UK everyone acknowledges other riders!

Yeah, didn't see any Brit standing on the podium at Le Tour.
You lot get pretty excited when your track team is doing well.. what happens when all those great riders are gone? Yeah, someone else will be the dominant force. Cycles of cycles.

er, nope.

the more we win, the more funding we get, the young talent is being groomed as we speak.

british track racing has a wealth of talent, so does BMX.

we don't have the training facility in this country for decent road training, but with funding we may be able to get something permanent in europe.

cavendish is coming, watch the tour over the next four years to see more british riders doing well.

you bitter, old aussie sheep dribbler

Our track team has barely changed for 4-5 years and their results have been petering(sp?) out for a while. We need some new blood.
Also every other country uses or has copied the BT so now we can't beat you with just the bikes any more. :)
The Brit setup whereby riders went to join French clubs worked for loads of riders - why did it stop? We can get 10 riders in the Tour from the other side of the world, why can't you lot do similar with your neighbors?
Cav is a sprinter though.. we've done the same with McEwan already. You have no GC contenders.

When I rode to Edinburgh yesterday from Glasgow all the oncoming guys gave a nod or a lifted hand wave.

Never happens in the city though where everyone is just getting to the place they are going.

I just met my neighbour this evening who's - wait for it - a french roadie.

He seemed very friendly. Time will tell if this proves to be the case when cycling.

I met a french roadie at crossroads opposite Whitedown on sunday. He'd stopped so I asked if he was OK. Reply: Yes, I'm fine, which way is CHISWICK?
I pointed toward Whitedown and off he went! Good work fella!
