Is anyone into mountain biking here?


I just got a MTB recently and realized i don't know anyone who rides MTB/cross country... and things like tubeless tyres and disc brakes are like a foreign movie without subtitles to me :)

I've been riding mtbs, seriously I would say for the last 15yrs, about half my life! Mountain biking has always been a big part of my life. only just got inti fixed a couple of months though.

What bike have you bought? Sounds like you got a good one!

out of my 27yrs of cycling i've spent the last 21 yrs behind the knobbly wheels....well,and every other kind of wheel too.....as redeye said...whatcha got?

I was well into mbt was I was a kid but the cost of the bikes and now living in London put an end to that. Best holiday I have ever had was when I was about 21 downhill mbting in the dolomites, plus I got to do a few of the climbs of the giro d' italia.

get on a train. for me a 30min train journey gets me to dorking, the riding is some of the best in the south east (off road)

Alright give me some money and space to store another bike and I'll be there.:) In all seriousness I would love to but our little flat is already at the girlfriend limit of bikes (if I had the space I would just grab my old mbt from my fokes house and single speed it up fo a cheap fun ride), plus the g'unit has just bought a flat so I have about 6 w/e to compleatly strip out and renovate her new flat. Me thinks I will have no time for the rest of the summer.

I've not been to the Alps moutain biking before either. Staying at a mate's chalet for the week. Nothing properly organised though I have GPS, Memory Map for the Alps and I understand that the trails are well marked. Body armour and spare brake pads arrived this morning!! Going to be needed.

I echo the comments on the North Downs, ride round Ranmore, Leith Hill etc a lot and some of the trails (summer lightening in partciular) are awesome.

I've got a lightweight MTB on hope singlespeed hubs and semi-slick tyres. Matt black alloy frame with old-school rigid Kona P2 forks and track ends. It's a beauty :-)

Haha yeah I have several of those too.

The MTB was built so that i can accompany my young lady on scenic rides along our countryside cycle paths, which are just a touch too bumpy for my Rubinos...
