how do you tighten them on the move if they are down?

quickly. it's more difficult to pull down, and conversly easier to pull up. So you want the release to be when you pull up - which is more important than tightening.

I got mine so the tighten by pulling up sure you can tighten one foot standing still but then how do you tighten the otherfoot when moving

The only time I've seen ^UP^ is on spin machines in gyms.

I personally think that pretty much solves it – vDOWNv it is.

so, let's meet and fight about it in a gym :-)

I've never actually been in a gym so truth be told I've never seen anyone ride straps up.

(Actually, it's a starting gate to synchronise take-off)

It's a starting gate. It clamps the wheel until the starting signal is given and prevents false starts giving riders an advantage.

Unless you are talking about the adidas booties/overshoes which are for aerodynamics.

Now until I got me a 'starting gate' to follow me around i am going to have to pull my straps UP in order to keep'em nice and tight

I have them set so they are pulled up to tighten, then folded down.

Thread toeclips and straps as shown in the illustration - from the outside to the inside of the pedal. Leave the end of the strap sticking out like a floppy dog ear - don't tuck it back into the buckle. Tighten the strap by pulling on the end, and loosen it by pushing the buckle outward with your thumb. Like this unless you are sporting doubles !!
