gus....

what can i say. If I were in your shoes, I'd be feeling pretty shit right now...!

What kind of frame is was it?

At least you seem to be ok... I always come off worse than my bike. Cheaper in the long term - I recommend trying that next time. Makes you instinctively avoid crashing more.

can we have a picture of the wall? any distinctive features? Just so we can know which wall to look out for.

it's the white barricade thing, behind the bollard, which is surprisingly strong
it's on bride road, in islington, so watch out

so it was the bollards, not the wall? Fuck me, if bollards and moveable walls are gonna start working together, we're properly fucked.

no no, i had a choice... go to the left of the bollard, or to the right and in the split second i had i chose the wrong one, leaving me with too little space to fit between this wall and the curb... pulled a big skid stop to no avail... face hits the wall its a blur from then on.

Sounds like a front brake would've made all the difference.

If you had time to pull a skid, you had time to manically grab the front brake and throw yourself head over heels into the wall.

This is what I would've done in your shoe.

That way you injure yourself severely, which gives you an animal instinct to not do it again, and the bike has a greater chance of survival!

brakes when properly adjusted will stop you quicker than skidding.

don't be afraid to admit you are wrong.

Ironically, MrSmith, I reckon you might find yourself hitting a metaphorical brick wall in this instance.
