Miche Primato Bottom Bracket sucks

Useless piece of crap, unscrewed itself halfway into the city. Had to fucking walk back, stay clear of these BBs.

User error in installation? That's normally what leads to a bb unscrewing itself. Been there, done that.

Potentially yes. Is the frame italian threaded?

Yeah, Italian, but my prior shimano BB did not unscrew itself. And I tightened the miche up as hard as possible.

It's worth investing in some thread lock compound if you can find some. I had an aluminium Pinarello and no matter how hard I tightened the fecking bottom bracket it would work loose. Thread lock solved it.

I think I'm going to go for a BB that has one fixed side and one loose side, and not an adjustable one.

I never had any trouble with mine. Did you grease the threads before installation?

Yes, plenty of grease. Maybe I'm too weak and couldn't tighten it up hard enough :S

eeehhhh
Mine is fine. Lightly greased the threads. Done up to specified torque with a torque wrench.

I'd put it down to not being done up tight enough.

Dude, I have one you can borrow. Hit me up via PM or SMS or something (number in thread).

I have miche bbs on two bikes. On one i used some teflon tape to ensure snugness after one side unscrewed a few times. No problems since.

Learning how to service a bike should not equate to using your credit card whenever something goes wrong. That's just mindless consumerism.

Swapped my Sugino for a Miche last year and I wouldn't go back. The Miche has run sweeter for longer and is much more resistant to the rain.

Wouldn't that be because the miche is sealed while the sugino is not?

My Shimano BB unscrewed it self in my Italian threadet frame.. So I'd recommend that you don't use Shimano either ;)

(I AM ironic, I recommend you use Loctite and HTFU)

My Mickey BB had to be beaten like a chav on a Friday night to get it undone.

The bearing is, however, a sack of spanners. 600 miles on a modern sealed BB is frankly pathetic.

I'm led to believe they're out of the same Kinex pot as the CampagNOlo, so I'm not keen on trying them either.

Hmmm, my Miche BB has just started to unscrew itself, as did its predecessor, only about a month ago. One was fitted by me, one by someone else, so I can't blame the mechanic. The one on my Surly (RIP) was fine for over a year.

Is there any chance it could be something to do with the frame?

Perhaps the threads are just cut a little 'loose'. That'd depend on the tool used by your frame manufacturer and it's condition, and I guess the material qualities of the BB shell.

C'est la vie.

Not a clue. English, I assume, since I didn't notice anything unfamiliar when I was fitting it.

Did you use a locking compound or grease or air on the threads?

try ptfe tape (30p or so from a plumbers merchant). about 5-10 turns on the threads, in the opposite direction to the threading. So, if you're looking at the bb shell frm the side of the bike and gonna turn the bb cup clockwise to tighten it, put ptfe tape on it anticlockwise. you still need to grease the bb.
