Spoke length Database

Quite a few seem to be building wheels at the mo, thought it might be an idea to check down what length spokes as a quick lookup for people wanting to do the same build and to lazy/stupid/busy/lacking info* to use a spoke calculator

Delete as appropriate

Front: Phil Wood High flange, Mavic open pro, 32h, X3 = 290mm
Rear: Phil wood HF double sided, Mavic open pro, 32h, X3 = 290mm

Please feel free to join in and and your own, or leave a slightly useful thread for anyone building the exact same thing I did.

Good reference point for people who don't trust spoke calcs, although no substitute.

Front: Diatech Gran Compe Track - 32h, Deep V, 3 cross = 281mm
Rear: Diatech Gran Compe Track - 32h, H+Son, 3 cross = 268 mm

I've got a (massive) list of specs for the more popular hubs on my wheelbuilding site

http://yogarup.com/wheels/hubs

Working out the spoke lengths is then fairly easy using the Damon Rinard Spocalc spreadsheet.

Also this year I've been logging all the wheels that I've built and you'll find that on my blog

http://arupdesigns.co.uk/blog/archiv...gory/wheel-log

There are spoke lengths included for each wheel, number of holes and cross pattern.

Laziness is good because it makes us come up with ways to keep being lazy.

I'm thinking about "translating" Damon Rinard and Arup's data into a web application, where you only type in your hub and your rim and - voila - it spits out your spoke length. I'm by no means an accomplished wheelbuilder but I like programming web apps.

Does something like that exist already?
Would that be useful or do people distrust these things and want to calculate themselves?

Arup, is the data on your website published under a permissive license?

the complexity of some of those spoke calcs can be a bit intimidating
i like the idea of just typing rim and hub type for spoke length rims and hubs

But its easier to not have to, if someone will tell you what it should be :-)

(although I am sure I would probably end up double checking with a spoke calc anyway)
