Tree fell on van and car by Clapham Common - 13 August 08 - London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

As we were about to take the cycling path to Clapham Common onto the A24 huge commotion, police, fire brigade. A massive tree had fallen at the lights on a van and a car.
We saw Clefty who told us that one person in the van died :( and the others were taken to the hospital. The person in the car was ok.

Sorry Clefty I looked for your thread and couldn't see it! Doh.

It really spooked me as I stand right by that tree twice a day. Once a tree branch fell at my feet in St James Park and everybody stopped "OMG! That was lucky".

looks like a roofers or plumbers van..

I expect those guys work at height a lot, pretty dangerous stuff. then the poor cunt gets totalled by a falling tree on his way to work in the van....

Apparently no cyclists were killed; none of them stopped at the red light.
