Maybe it's a silly question...but what is the point of using bar of that guage for the lock and then securing it with a padlock with a smaller guage horseshoe? a chain is only as strong as its weakest link after all...just makes all that bulk on the lock extra weight.
Well done anyway though....i like home made stuff!

personally i think my home made lock is much better.
solid pine dowel, with balsa wood securing tube.
thumb tack locking device.
solid.
