| | New forum member flamings and other things i don't know quite what has gone wrong on this forum. i am beginning to get fed up with the unnecessary flaming of new guys/girls. how do they know how to use a "search" button??? they have come on here through google or recomended. getting their bikes slagged off. fuck me it's a fucking cycle not a car. they are just asking for help most of the time. so what if they haven't been on a "social" ride or drinks. they are more likely to, if they did recieve a warmer welcome. a lot of riders out there, have been riding for years, and don't use this place. also as tynan said yesterday, about new people coming on here, first posting and selling stuff, they are selling to a market we are providing. if they offered something up i was after or wanted, i wouldn't give a fuck, i'd just buy it. they also have searched and found us. both these types of people, do not know the so called "forum etiquette"there is not FAQ. alot of people on here, have asked some so called "dumb" questions, when they first came here. so what??? it is getting boring. and yeah, i'm as good as taking the piss as most. when necessary. and breath..... my first rant is over. |

| | well done mate, very calm ranting there... FFS! :-P I havent been on for 2 weeks and not missed it too much really. (only the banter) The flaming reactions you mention are varied and sometimes boring blots on my forum experience. I've been guilty of it too. I can't always love, and sometimes understand the hate, but if you don't have anything nice to say etc. etc. Sometimes I think that we need VB back to tell us all how to act. (< not a joke!) |

| | Good post murtle. A lot of the 1st time posts about OTP bikes are asking for help when choosing between 2 specific bikes - so the poster has done a bit of research already and wants help in making a comparison - nothing wrong with that. Murtle, I'm worried tho, you coming over all soft and gentle? |

| | I personally the search feature is good with... no of threads: Bikes and bits -2049 Mechs & fixing - 1181 Rides & races - 465 forum help - 111 etc. and a total of 9210 threads and 258396 posts BUT... newbs just dont know what to search for... i agree we should and we have been pointing people in the right direction...with the classic response use the search feat. and a link. I think this is going to be inevitable. We should learn to hold our finger (tongues). As i joined in October i've learnt a lot... The older members have seen the community grow... and faced thousands of silly posts. It is a community after all... we should be welcoming no matter what the question as murtle says I for one am cutting down on flaming and anything i see a suspicious will be reporting. ...right last bit. This forum is an amazing resource if you cant find the answer on here via a thread or a post its really not worth knowing. Being part of the community now i can PM my silly questions to the people i have met on here, ie know the man with the right answer for you and pick his brain. as said before... We all start somewhere. |

| | "Yeah I saw that post and sort of skimmed through it, but what I really want is some quality attention on me. I want to publicly receive all of your well thought out and oft-repeated opinions about tedious anal decision making over what colour to powdercoat my lockring, and I need to know exactly what you think will be the physiological outcome of choosing either a 16 or a 17 tooth sprocket based on your lifelong experiences. Then I'll just dismiss these insights, or selectively ignore them, and spout some insipid drivel about 'lovin' the fixie scene' and 50x14 being 'too spinny' and start a new thread asking where I can buy some spds or if anyone can just give me a set of NOS Cinelli drops." |

I am with BMMF on this one. If you recall, some one asked a question about bouncing in his saddle. BMMF put up a fantastic answer, including information about how to pedal correctly. The cock totally ignored BMMF's post, and continued to dribble about frame angles.

Rant? You call that a rant? Why don't you search the forum for some proper rants, and come back when you have worked up a decent one.
