Stolen forks

hi, my forks, seatpost and saddle were stolen on monday night on buckingham street in dalston/de beauvoir. sucks cos i was actually outside having a chat with some friends and the fucker did that 5 meters away from us. we caught him but couldnt catch him.
i thought the saddle might go at some point but the forks!! i still cant believe this.
anyway, i thought maybe i could post a picture of my bike on this and if anyone sees forks like this around and they could let me know that'd be great. i dont know the make or whatever but i thought they were really pretty.
thanks very much, sandra.

it a bit hard to spot a chrome fork that belong to you, I mean half the old road bike/fixed gear bike have chrome fork!

best bet to go to BLB and ask them if anyone came in trying to sell the fork, otherwise just buy another one, it shouldn't cost much, even if temporary.

bad luck velo 75, quite amazed they stole the forks! Did they leave the front wheel? What about the brake caliper? did they cut the brake cable? Were you locked up by the big estate on the corner of kingsland road?

So you got hold of him, then you let him go?

I would be livid if someone robbed stuff of my bike as I suspect most folks here would to.

but I have to say I am with Dogs on this, no offence velo dude but when bike theives in NYC part a bike on the street its cos the bits are rare ..a friend had his Campy pedals taken once. Maybe I need some re-education on forks but are those exceptional?
In any case I am sad for you... and for all of us if theives in Dalston / Hackney have caught on to the tricks used in NYC then we all need to be more vigilant.

Is it Barklays for Bikes opposite Oxfam? I always though the young chubby guy who works there was quite nice - will always lend you tools and stuff.

I always thought that shop looked dodgy-as. But I went in there a couple of moths back, and it's mainly repairs. The only bikes he had to sell were brand new cheapo bikes. All others were in for repair.

Unless he's nicking parts to order to repair other bikes.... which would actually be a pretty smart move. No re-selling parts, stealing to order - very little risk.

Oh and +1 for pitlocks.

Why rear brake only?

If they managed to remove the forks, surely they would have had to remove the quill stem...Did they not take the handlebars as well?...

He is pretty daft if he is walking a few hundred meters from his own shop to pinch parts to order. Doesn't add up to me.

And sorry about your stuff being stolen. Never a nice feeling.

there is a gang of teens in de beauvoir. They sometimetimes hang outside my door. They are always looking for trouble and last week the police nicked them but he next day they were free. Tey dont give a s**t and they are always on bikes, not fixed gear. I saw them snatching a bag from an old lady on orsman road and run away and hide in de beauvoir.

On saturdays on the flea market on the kingsland road there is a guy who sells parts and stolen bikes. He stays in fron of the organic pub, where the white bike is (middleton road).

I am sorry to hear that they destroyed your bike.

Only a rear-brake with a freewheel is suicide.

I think the fact it doesn't have a brake in the front wheel made it a LOTS easier for the theft to steal the saddle really.

Saddle? piece of piss to removed, just get an old chain round it and bingo, adden security that'd put some theft off attempting to remove it.
