could a road traffic violation committed on a bike (e.g. caught riding pissed up) have any bearing on your driving license or are the two completely seperate?

Not sure about your DL but a mates dad years ago got pissed up and rode home on his bike. crashed into a parked up coach on the Grays Inn Rd. The driver was still in it and called the old bill. My mates dad got done for ' Drunk in charge of a bicycle'. Just got a fine and a telling off.
