| | Bristol, love and theft it's a nice place. it has savage hills. i've been riding a lot, down into the mendips and beyond. there aren't many other people riding fixed here, at all, although i think i've met the 7 that do. on the shit side, last night my bob jackson was stolen. i don't want to go into details of how, but i suspect that either i failed to lock through the frame (i have never done this before, ever, so somehow doubt it) or they cut through the frame, or they picked the lock. it was a kryptonite. anyway, i'm philosophical about it, as well as pissed off. if you could keep eyes peeled, on the off chance that it surfaces somewhere. perhaps. dark blue BJ, lime luglining, 58cm, chipped to fuck, sugino 75 cranks, gipiemme black pedals, regal saddle, silver push seatpost, nitto bullhorns, rear wheel black unmarked, front spin tri-spoke, goldfinger lever, campag record brake , pantographed moser stem. on the positive side, this morning my holdsworth finally turned up, just waiting for campag pista chainset to arrive, then it's built, pics to follow next week. it's like karma, bike stolen, other one arrived. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by pj (pj); 9th August 2008 at 16:08.. |

| | holdsworth work done by colourtech, not quite the colour i wanted, but used to it now. will be mavic module E 27" wheelset, campag pista bb and chainset, prob big nitto track bars and deep drop stem, 1950s seatpost, angled, brooks b17, honey coloured. basically, a mixture of old and new. heads up - SJS have mavic rims in 27" size, NOS. rare as hen's teeth. |

| | real shame about your bike mate, Ive just finished building up my bike and since going out on it Ive realised im absolutley terrified of it getting pinched! Ive ridden far more expenisve and desirable(to thieves) 26" jump bike around and left it locked badly. But Ive procrastinated and taken so long getting this bike together, which also features my first wheelbuild. Im very very fearful and realise how you may feel. When I passed through Bristol recently (forst time ive been in years) I immediateley saw a hipster type on an aerospoke so I thought they must have a huge scene there now. But overall, with the many other times ive been there what I noticed a lot of was vandalised bikes. There seems to be a popular passtime of smashing bikes there, bikes totally bent to pieces with folded up wheels everywhere. If you get a few local people to keep an eye out I reckon its fairly likely you could spot & track down your bike, maybe put up a little flyer in 50:50 and some of the bike shops. |

| | well, i asked them to match it. it was an off-white, very light cream colour. it's now pearl white, as in almost iridescent, jodie-marsh-teeth white. but i like it now. was just looking at the dropouts and i can't the wheels in, very tight. i had this problem with a holdsworth before. i think the spacing is 115mm. hmmm. to coldset or not to coldset. |

| | Sorry to hear about the BJ man - I'll look out for it. Guess I'm one of the lucky seven riders you might have seen up and down the Gloucester Road (on a Charge Plug with white Deep Vs and white bar tape)... A mate of mine had his Nikolai MTB stolen from his garage in Brentry (~£2200) and it showed up 3 months later in a drug raid in Avonmouth - moral of the story? Get the police on it as well - you never know when it will turn up. |

| | well, i thought i was insured, but apparently not. so there you go. i now have insurance, bikes are a bitch to insure, house and contents doesn't cover automatically, you need to pay a premium. if anyone knows better let me know. i fantasise about seeing the scumbag riding the bike, and doing a shoulder charge so he hits a wall or something and his head collapses in on itself, then i laugh, kick him in the chops, and ride off, happily. i think the white was a bit discoloured before. it's fricken bright now. looks good with brooks saddle, gb stem, nitto bars - nice vintage style shape to them - and GB brake lever on right hand side in true path style. |
