sorry for the double posting on FGG but I wanted to share this here...

So on sunday I was in Paris and decided to go to my parents' house, 25kms south of the city, to pick up something. As I'm reading my newspaper on the train I realize that this year the tour is passing via my village, as many times in the past (Saint Remy Les Chevreuse- home to a cat4 climb!). But since it's 3pm I assume they passed by in the morning.

As I ride up a hill towards my house, I notice a Gendarme at the next intersection. Strange.
Arriving at the top, I understand that the peloton has not yet passed by, since hundreds of people line up the road.. but I DO have to get to my house, so I just sneak behind the Gendarme and onto the empty road.

Then it got a bit mad: families having picnics and waving flags started to cheer and clap! I have no idea what they thought, since I was not exactly sporting the usual road cycling gear (no helmet, hairy legs, risers, jeans shorts, messenger bag...). I rode on for a while then turned off onto my street...

Came back a bit later to film the peloton slowly pass by:

I still love the Tour, and you have just described one of the reasons why I do.

that's awesome.

I liked this year's tour very much, watched it every day, now there won't be anything worth switching the tv on for..

Yes, Tour withdrawal. It's horrible isn't it?

I'm going to Dublin to watch some other drugged-up cyclists racing to get over it!

I'm just going to take drugs and do the riding myself. Maybe throw in some highlights watching as well..

Does anyone know if the Vuelta is being shown on ordinary tellybox? Cycling.TV appear to have the rights, but want actual real money to be able to watch it.

Also: Naughty Mayo! No biscuit!

The best part is that he took the drugs, got his team to ride for him (remember Millar blowing the legs off the leading group on the first climb?) and still blew up like a box of fireworks in a furnace.

Muppet.

tour of ireland on tv currently
itv4 channel 028 on your digi box 7 ish in the evening
it just seems so low key compared to the tour no names some fat paddy ( i'm half irish so no offence meant ) wheezing and puffing over a small hillock bright red face dripping sweat the roads even look ameteurish pot holed british roads
just doesn't compare to the tour none of the names present none of the drug scandals
even the sprints are a bit of a let down no mass group hurtling towards the tape at 50 - 60 mph
it is bike racing though and
