| | New bike, creaking chain - normal? tried searching for this, but nothing... I know a new chain will stretch, but is a creaking sound normal? It's only noticeable when I'm accelerating slowly from a stationary position - as once I'm going it's fine (I think). This is fixed steamroller, one week old, seen about 100 miles. I've had my ear to it, and pretty certain it's just the chain creaking/squeaking on the chain wheel. Thanks. |

| | just to hijack this thread a bit, how tight should crank bolts be? i read somewhere (prob sheldon) that you shouldn't keep tightening them over and over? preload??? my cranks/BB are creaking a bit. just an idle question, i'll get myself over to sheldon/parktools this evening if no replies are forthcoming. as you were. |
