Can you help me put on a new crank at East End Beers?

Hi,

I bought a new road crank on ebay and need to fit it. I don't have pedal spanners or a crank puller. I thought the best place would be the East End Beers tomorrow (July 30).

Would anyone mind bringing their tools along and let me use them?

Cheers
Lenni

I don't mind, can you photo your existing crank?

I have a crank extractor and a big wrench, allen keys but no socket wrench. (if it is a hex head bb bolt)

The nut is a hex one. I have taken it off with a Park Tool hex crank bolt spanner before. Will post a photo in am minute.

I'm helping someone else install some cranks/bb tomorrow. I'll bring the tools to east beers with me after (although ma3k should bring his too - just in case!).

Will ask for horatio and |³|MA3K (how do you pronounce that anyway?!).

thats not hex. You need a socket set to remove that nut. Some crank extractors have them built in. You should get one. Its a really useful tool.

Oh wait, hex is another name for allen key? Just realised. How do you call the pictured nut then?

Any recommendations for a tool? Maybe this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Union-Cotterle...ayphotohosting

Or is it Park Tools all the way?

it looks fine to me. If you can afford Park then its nice stuff to have but that one looks good for the money too.

My crank extractor may work. We'll give it a shot.

I have the extractor with attached socket and I live just round the corner from East beers, but at a party tonight, in fact, never been to East End Beers, not through laziness, just forget after a long day at work go home, eat, and retire to the bedroom with my lady!

Too much information tomiskinky!

But if for one reason I don't get it sorted tonight I will give you a PM. Thanks.
