Holdsworth Mystique - Worth Saving?

Watcha,

I've just been offered an old holdsworth and I'm thinking of honing my bike mending skills by trying to convert it, but is it worth while?

The bike itself if a bit rusty in places, but it looks surface stuff only, so a new paint job might be in order.

There's no indication on the frame of the steel used although the forks are reynolds 531. The only details I can find on the net indicate this was a fairly low end bike.

Is it worth trying to rescue?

Thanks

I did this a couple of years ago to the same model. Worth while or not is up to you. like you say frame is not a branded tubing and low end stuff like gears you'll take off. Shouldn't cost much and not much to lose if you hate it or fuck up. I sold mine in the spring for £60. It was a good runner, long, touring geometry with 27" wheels.

the mistral was introduced in 1981 and was the entry level model, and they only ran if for a couple of years. renolds tubing, but not specified any quality it was half the price of the cheapest 531 model, i would only restore it if i really liked riding it.
