| | Brompton PASS ![]() Thanks for that. Happened while honking at around 18-20mph. Have cut the piss out of my knee. Again. Thanks to the bloke on a rusty Twatster who retrieved part of my (broken) chain tensioner from the middle of the road at Scotch Corner at 9am this morning. | | Show it to brompton, they may help. I am always rather dissapointed that companies like Pashley & brompton who sell overspirced bikes under the pretence they are of high british quality, then go and use the worst generic components ever. Usually worse than a halfords appolo. Pashley is the worst at this. |

| | Bromptons can be dangerous - I was off roading mine (possibly not the best idea) through some woods - flew off and cracked my elbow. The front brake had become detached from the frame - the bolt had just wobbled loose (also possibly my fault for not checking it)! Fortunately I have healed like Wolverine and am back on my single speed again. Brompton service / company have been really helpful to me in the past so certainly worth a call, they sent me some free stickers once as mine had worn off. |

| | Been down to the Brompton factory, they took a look at the forging of the crank and confirmed that it was definitely a crank failure rather than something I've done. They're certain that this is the first occasion that they've seen this, and the crank supplier (possibly Stronglight as that's what they look like) are keen to see the crank. I cannot fault their customer service whatsoever. In a couple of days I'm picking the bike back up with new cranks, rear mudguard, gear adjustment chain plus a chain tensioner (all damaged/destroyed in the crash), plus on top of that a new BB, tyre, rear dymano and SPD pedals (they need to keep the one in what's left of the crank). They tried to convince me to also have a luggage bag that fits onto the front of the bike, but I don't want one of those as it makes you look even more of a prat than you already do! |
