Fixie

Hey, can anyone help me? I'd like to ride a single speed fixie, got no time to make it myself (2 little kids...) ;-(

a) has anyone here one (nice) bike to sell me?
b) are there shops in London where I can see any (like tomorrow)?

I'm in Kentish town, work in Oxford street
My height is 5.8

thanks

Has RPM got some kind of bizarre alarm system hooked up, where the blue thread is snagged when the door opens and triggers some kind of builder's tools related mishap?

It clearly failed then, clearly.

I have noticed I say clearly a lot these days. I blame the English.

ok then, I guess I have a wrong price expectation...
and what about this then: "Puch puppy power Fixed slayer"? Sold yesterday at 110...

Can you help set the right level of price? I'm not looking for a new-modern bike, I'm looking for an oldie in good conditions.

i would personally say your best bet is to find a beaten up old racer and convert it.... you wouldn't have the best bike however, its possible.

its not often on here a bike sells for £110

For £150 you're not gonna get a "nice" bike. But you can sort out something reasonable if you're willing to do a little work on it (learning how the bike works and how to maintain it will save you time and money in the long run).
If I was in your position, I would buy an old racer on gumtree for 50-60 quid, spend about 50 quid on a new rear wheel, and spend the rest on buying some bits+bobs (bars, etc)
Getting a bike sorted is gonna be cheap or easy, not both. Persevere and I'm sure you'll find something though.

@mister k - 2 kids doesn't leave much time for fettling. I can appreciate bedtimefordemocracy's need for something ready to ride, probably as far away from the kids as possible in snatched moments of free-time ;)

yes.... (in some rare moments I ride my Cinelli 1980 -it was my father's in law. perfect conditions, custom made for his size. a masterpiece). but I want a fixie for a day-by-day use.

I think you could find something better for the same money.

It's not bad, but...well, shame you missed BoBoB's Puch, as you say.

That was a bargain. The likes of which may not be seen for some time.

I still get a sharp pang of misery every time I think back to last January, when in the first week of the new year, and super broke, I bid all I could possibly bid on a Brian Rourke 531 fixed conversion, Mavics etc.. beautiful bike. I bid £93, at work; i didn't bid late enough. It went for £94.

But it shows it is possible. Sniff.

are you just searching for "fixie" bedtime?
try things like 'track', 'path', 'fixed', or 'single speed' as well if you're not.

don't buy a fucking nicked bike from brick lane market!

and those other things are shitty, overpriced conversions.

get something OTP or wait until the right S/H bike comes up, from a private seller not one of these fly-by-night knock-off merchants
