Depends on your inside leg measurement. I'm 5.8 and ride a 53, my friends a 5.8 and rides a 49

My boyfriend is 5'7" and he rides a 54cm. So unless you have particularly short legs, probably a 53 or 54cm will be a good fit.

seatposts can go up and down. it's more about top tube length and reach.

The info I have are the following: top tube is 53, downtube is 51.
inside legs my size is 31.5 inches.

i tried to google, results vary a lot. difficult to understand what is the right size for me from there...

Try measuring the seat tube. Centre of the BB to centre of the top tube.

it is about reach really, though your inside leg would suggest a 54 - 56 cm frame.

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=2]The dimension from the centre of the BB to the centre of the top tube is 50cm's (approx).

Unless it's (semi)/compact.

Anyway, it's all about seat-tube angle and head-tube length.

surely its not ALL about inside leg..what if you have a small upper body and longer legs. that has been my problem!

top tube length/angle, seat tube angle and steering tube angle are v. important also

If you're prepared to travel then try places that sell secondhand reconditioned bikes, Oxford Cycle Workshop might be worth a try, or they may have something suitable for a conversion.
