Continental Supersport black & white tyre information request with a colour photo

I picked up a pair of these 20mm tyres from the bike jumble at the weekend. Can anyone tell how good they are? They look pretty old to me.

They have a very stiff bead although I think the TPI maybe low. Would they be suitable for the track? They are the only tyres I own rated up to 11 bar. Cheers.

they look alright so they do. are there such things as track tyres ?
aslong as you can pump em up hard as u said, that's the only thing i can think of that would make them track worthy, in which case you've answered your own question.

Next please !

Thanks. Sounds like you choose different tyres every day according to the weather! ;-)

I was hoping someone would confirm these tyres have been in a warehouse since the 80s. Did you see that Lance Armstrong documentary? They age his tyres in a cellar like wine.

^exactly. it depends how they've been stored. Rubber can perish quickly, esp older compounds. Personally if they felt ok between thumb and forefinger, i'd ride them on the track. If i had to guess I'd say they were late-1990's GP supersonic equivalents.

bottom line, they're 20mm so gonna be made for the track. and they're continental so gonna be decent quality. how much did you pay?

only cuz the weather is so good at mo.. usually i ride those zaff rigids on front and that white one(a bit like new shelltoes) i bought from you.. yea for a few days to give me a change but there not so good all the time and if wet atall, try them and see.. plenty fast..!no skiding on that rear one tho...conti do a touring 28 that Andy FGL had on the other night that looked like my randonneur but more robust..even if they are cracked they should be fine..i think..
