Inches and mm are both good, just depends on what your measuring.

What is well confusing though is when people mix decimals with inches.

way to waste money on a pair of much needed non-grey summer jeans....look if I don't wear them now I'll be too old and be in Monaco bars wearing them with Sweeney loafers..do you really want pajamas to end his days like that?

JOL I am aggrieved that even you, who are usually so urbane, has seen fit to join in with this thread-hijacking tomfoolery. I have no idea what you are insinuating..

My threads have already got their own thread.. can people please move away from the George Michael specials, nothin' to see here, I repeat nothin' to see here.......

Who's going to peer down and binocular the ruler, to make sure you get the right millimetre? Inches, then round up. 8, 10, 12, 14....always sounds good. Millimetres? No way mate.
My EX though, could be measured in yards. Bitch. There's not enough millimetres in the world to go around her. Bitch. Yeah, twice deserved.

LOL!

Both. I was taught mm at school, then when I left and went to work, most people were using inches (imperial). WTF!

the question should be metre or yard. The others are subdivisions.

Personally, I stick with decameters expressed against a gravitational constant.

no apollo 13 went wrong because of a faulty air purification unit.

there was a mission to mars a few years back that went wrong because every other country that had anything to do with it worked in mm and america thought it was in inchs.well done to america for not asking. all the drawings had a note at the bottom that said !"if unsure ask" I'd have put "fucking read the legend you dumb fucks" but then they did beat us onto mars after beagle went wrong. mmmmm ?

+1 Where I'm working we're soon to make the switch to metric but the larger the measurement the quicker it is to take a reading in inches- 73 1/2" or 1867.25mm. (Don't check me on that)

i use the devonian unit of measurement, the 'yay'. as in:

How big was the badger then?

Well, i can't be too sure, but i'd say it was yay big.

usually accompanied by gestured approximation of size.

ah yes the fishmans "yay" which is always 3 times larger than a normal "yay"

bit like the measurement for torque of 1 grunt or 2

This was the Mars Orbiter in 1999. One part of the team used imperial and the other metric. Fail.
