Chain Tug: OK the wrong way round?

Evening.

I have bought slightly the wrong tugs (again) - 8mm MKS ones that do not fit onto my CONdor / Goldtechy hubs. This is because the washer bit has too narrow a diameter to fit over the spindle.

The ingenious solution I've come up with is to turn them round so the 'logo' is inward facing and the washer sits on the outside of the dropout. The only problem I can think of is the effect of the adjustment screw is reversed.

Any reason why I should not do this?

Cheers

Jim

Fitting it that way will reverse the polarity of the neutron flow. At your own risk...

the sliding plate is on the outside of the dropout, goldtecs have an oversize axle with flats machined top and bottom so they can slide into the dropout. this means the axle will not fit through the hole in the chain tug.

Answer the question and stop exposing me as a dumb arse. Turning it 180 degrees does not change the thread of the tug. D'oh!

All bikes built and used for backwards circles should Inverse shimmed threads.. carry on as planned.

Originally - just to be different. Now - because I don't have a heavy duty chain splitter to get the heavy, clunky fucker off.

Yeah you also told me to get the 5mm ones! ;P

Hippy, I'm growing a goatee and diving off my bike into puddles at every available opportunity - I want to be you THAT much.

Check the BCD of the fork flange, and that you have correct spok length.
Also, make sure you're running an officiated proper "noob" ratio of 49:15 (4 skidz, blud, isn't it)
It might also be worth verifying the NJS certification of your standard sized riding jeans before your next venture out to the assymetric bowlcut hairdressers...
;o)
