In reply to the OP, Look cleats should be fine I've ridden tem for years and never had a problem, one point though:-

Look Delta cleats (old style) and Look Keo cleats are a different size and therefore incompatible. (They're both as good as each other but Keo have a smaller lower profile pedal)

if your current pedals don't have the word Keo on them, then they're old style Delta cleat pedals.

tom.
Does anyone use the Time road pedals? It seems that there are RXS and Xen's. Are the cleats compatible? Is one system newer than the other?

Trying to decide which pedals I should go for, the shoes I'm currently looking at are "SPD-SL and Look(R) cleat compatible". This means that they're compatible with Time Atac cleats and pedals, or have I got it wrong?

Have been using toeclips and straps and think it's time to graduate to clipless.

ATACs will fit SPD shoes with the two holes which are close together, SPD-SL and Look are three holes which are spaced far apart with a very large cleat. (see pic)

Some Shimano shoes have both but I think you need an adaptor to use SPDs with them.

Thanks, that clears things up. Shall continue the search or Time Atac compatible shoes. SIDI Dominators look pretty damn good, going to have to do a bit of saving!

if you are pulling out its because the pedals are not adjusted to your style. i have shimano 920's and have had no probs 6 years, same pair. eggbeaters i am tempted to try cos they look so cool, apreciate opinions !

Most people will say that the more expensive eggbeaters are good. But the cheaper/entry level ones break far too easily.

I have a pair of SLs and a pair of entry-level beaters and I can't tell the difference, to be honest. The SLs I bought secondhand and re-built: they are heavily worn (2004 vintage I think) but still going strong. From memory, I think the very expensive beaters (the 4Ti titanium ones) have a max weight limit of 85 kilos, so they are probably the most frangible.
