Down and back definately sounds like a plan - saves a coach/train journey which is always good. Would have to leave fairly early though, how fast would people want to go?

Ello all, I'm doing this too, signed up by a mate before I realised it was a massive organised event - i just thought it was a ride to Cambridge! I'll shout if I spot any fixed people...

I've gone down on the train and cycled back the last few times and i think i remember the start closes about 9.30 ish Soooo if we say it takes 2 and a half hours, 6.30 leave time ......shit thats early . How many takers on meeting up for this, i'm doing it fixed , i'm definitely up for it (weather permitting) plus 2ish others on fixed. We could meet up at Addenbrooks roundabout ? We could then meet up for ride back at the start line with all the train gang. Would be a cool event to meet all Cambridge forum people. I don't care particularly how fast we go , just would be nice to be part of a group.

I'm definately up for that. Are we planning on avg of 20mph on the way there? Maybe 2.5hrs is optimistic ;-) The site says start times 7.30-9.15 so we'd probably want to be leaving at more like 6am(!)

I moved to London 2 weeks ago and it's still 20 miles to the start line!!!

I think its now a 6 am start at Addenbrookes roundabout bus stop area .A few people have hinted we should go earlier but if we say that is the set off time. Roll ups ,cups of tea, tyre pumping , general pissing about done before 6. I'll see if i can sort out a map , basically the charity ride in reverse. We got Me, Will and Jamie, Rick (although i haven't asked him yet) ,and possible Stacy of the ECCFWC'ers ,and Jwshale so far. ? Any others .

Sadly I'm going to wimp out of the early start - I'm going to cycle up today and stay at a friend's house tonight. What bikes should I look out for tomorrow?

We'll be going in opposite directions. I'm on 50x14's orange and black geared Terry Dolan, which my girlfriend described as "an Essex Boy Racer". Widest handlebars I've ever seen.

Another one bites the dust....... its boiled down to me and Will doing the 100, Griffiam and Jamie doing the train down thing .i'm on an old something chrome frame bling track bike with gold velocities(in cambridge thurs fixed thread) and look fucking ancient but only 43. Will on a raleigh ratbike fixed ,griffiam on something like his black condor or san marco dayglo yellow or something else but equally expensive and we don't talk about jamie's ride. It's gonna be hot hot hot ,gonna get beers beers beers in the MAYPOLE after.

Good to have a brief chat with Mr Asseenonafixie on the ride back home, presume you got up that hill. If anyone likes more of a social ride than you get with the Cambridge clubs, we meet Tues/Thurs /Sun @ 1830/0900 rides are 25-35miles in the week and 40-100 on a Sunday (a lot of Suffolk rides and several beers). Meet at Bottisham high street outside the garage. Not many fixies in the group but very broad minded.

Only just . We met someone doing it on a pimped postie bike with gold velocitys that was fixed 53/14 which cheered us up no end. Ride down was awesome chasing hares and rabbits down traffic free lanes early in the morning. Nice to meet you all -FA , Jwshale,and Snowy again . Got a free pint off the landlord of the Maypole too .

Started at 8, finished at 12. Good ride and a nice day. Saw a few fixed going the other way a few miles in.

Nice ! The background worries me, it looks like they are pissing on their bikes or the hedge and those two men sitting on a trailer look dangerously cynical. My mate Will( dealer boots and flats) had a nice sleep at that rest-stop, i thought he was dying .He was revived with malt loaf ,to continue and complete the 110 miles .Next day he got up at 4am to deliver a phone box to edinburgh.I fear this photo confirms we are the backward cousins of the FGSS here in cambridge.
