Chainline bottom bracket

Hello, i wonder if anyone can advise on parts....

I have made a single speed from an old Triumph (raleigh) 1980's racer.
My chainline is 50mm, i need to make it 42mm.
my BB is 68/117 (using a ruler)
therefore i need to lose 9mm (or near as)on one side, so i reckon a 68/107 and a couple of shims on the rear will get me there.

problm is, its the original BB cup and cone type, ann the BB's on the web (like wiggle.co.uk seem to be for modern cassettes, but some look like they might be cup and cone but "housed" (do i make any sense at all?)

or can i just get a replacement shorter axle for my current BB and shove that in?

cheers

pj (pj)
just whack a modern cartridge BB in there.

107 should be fine, if it's a SS, you probably won't even need a spacer.
