| | Helmets... What does everyone use? I've not worn one in months, however, following a small accident, I've decided to wear one again. I prefer BMX styles ones but you sweat like a prisoner on death row. Regular ones breathe but look all futuristic and strange. Are there other helmet-phobes out there? |

| | It's not do you or don't you, Mary Chain wants some advice on what is good if you decide you want one. My tuppence; spend as much as you can, they get cooler looking, smaller and more ventilated the more you spend. I like the top of the line Specialized 2D, it costs a bomb but I've crashed wearing one, it worked really well and it is the coolest (temperature) helmet that I've ever worn. I think that a BMX helmet would be really warm, too much for me. |

After reading here about crash after crash i reckon helmet is not much of an option anymore. I´ve got a shit specialized now, cheapest evans had. My reasoning is it-will-look-shit-so-i-can-just-as-well-look-shit-on-the-cheap time for a change perhaps

| | I have a Lazer Big magma. Its really big, and does nothing to tone down my large head which makes me find excuses not to wear it. Apparently helmets which have points, i.e. which aren't continuous across the whole helmet make it less easy for it to slide on the ground which puts pressure on the neck. fact. more or less. |

| | I have a Bell, BMX style (with Kagy stickers, oooh) - it was the cheapest in Condor by a mile, about £15, I think. I'm sure it's not super strong, but it makes my head look about the size of the moon so more people see me and get out of the way, making me less likely to hit them and die. |

They all look a bit crap, esp with a big head. also +1 to spending a bit more to get plenty of ventilation. I have a Met Kaos. Helps to keep up my mountain biker/hipster mash up look.

| | I have a Bell something or other? Halfrauds 30 quid 3 years ago, didn't have much choice as it was the only one that comfortably fitted my odd shaped head. Tried a skaters helmet but even the largest size was too small. On the odd occasion I ride without a helmet but feel very vunerable, they are an inconvenient nessessity I think in London. Or maybe I am just kidding myself that they will actually do me any good in an accident? Hopefully I don't get the chance to find out! |
