This is primarily a fixed-gear and single-speed cycling forum. Yes this is London, yes we're mostly all here. But that doesn't mean every thing about London should suddenly be encompassed by the forum. I really don't want to see external factors taint what is a wonderful community. We have a great thing in common, our love of cycling. Let's just share that on here, the riding, the fun, the bikes, etc. When it comes to other stuff, well do we need politics to be the cracks in the strength of the community? Or even football? Do we want local London derby's to end up with threads in which we slag each other off? Fuck that shit, I say. We should make the thing we love first and foremost on here... the bikes, the riding. And even then, we should try and avoid the red light flame war, the helmet flame war. Why bother bringing the ultimate flame war of politics on here? Life's too short, let's ride.

| | I agree that ignorance and prejudice has no place on this forum, or indeed any forum, but to try and seperate something that will affect us all - who is in charge of London - from any discussion of London cycling is ridiculous. As to the issue Boris vs Ken - I think a choice between Ken and Boris is no choice at all. |

| | I'm trying to avoid the flame wars rather than what affects us. Politics on the internet, much like religion on the internet. I don't believe that any amount of word diarrhoea is going to make another person change the views they already hold. The argument would be a waste of energy and just create animosity where none needs to exist. |

Argument and discussion aren't the same thing. And what about the people who haven't made up their minds yet? And isn't it a little presumptuous to say that everyone on this forum holds fixed views that they will never change? Does that mean that if I posted a thread on this forum asking people to write to their MEPs about blind-spot mirrors for HGVs you would sink the discussion because it was 'political'?
