Wheel spacing

Hi,

In practice, could I use 120mm rear hubs in 126mm frame? It's only 3mm per side and the stays usually have some spring in them. What do you think? Anyone done it? (Sorry if this has been covered before but I can't see it.)

Cheers...

Having just read my post back, I'm wondering whether the answer might be to space out the hub axle by 3mm per side. Will have to see if the axle has enough spare space. Do they usually? It's Campagnolo (v. old).

yep, plenty of people have done it.

personally, I prefer to space out. if it's easy with your axle, maybe 2mm spacers on each side so you only squeeze 2mm down in total.

helps to keep the dropouts parallel down the length

i've bent in a few 126mm frames. no problem. you can coldset if feeling particularly ambitious, see sheldon for tips.
