| | still waiting on me bike from respray and with the strikes i resurrected this poor neglected BMX from the dump yesterday. Was completely orange with rust and a couple of flats to boot. Bit of elbow grease sorted that out. Still needs a new front tire as its got a tear on it but its nearly all good. Not quite the fixed i was hoping to be riding this week but its single speed at least. say hi if you see a 6ft 3 man on a slighty undersized bmx pootlin his way between soho and stepney. ![]() ![]() |

Don't get me wrong I've used them for 19 months but I can't in good conscience let other people waste the money as they won't do your fixie justice. | ||

| | hey, my name's gary, i'm from new york city, going to school in boston, and currently studying for a semester at oxford. i usually spend a lot of time riding my fixed - both for fun and as a form of training, and have done some 20-odd alleycats this year in boston, nyc, philly, and new haven. i'm looking for people to ride with in the event i make it down to london, and would let to get in atleast 1 alleycat over here, possibly some in parts of continental europe. problem with all that is that i need to find myself a fixed gear bike over here (though i guess i'll post that in the 'let's trade' thread?). i have my road bike over here (as i plan on training with the oxford university cycling team) but i feel lost without a fixed gear that i can just bang around on and ride through cities and traffic with, though i'd be looking for something on the cheap end since i'll probably end up selling it at the end of the semester. pics: @ grand theft velo with my bike (new haven, ct) ![]() @ the metal race (nyc) ![]() @ londonderry velodrome (new hampshire) ![]() |

| | i'm studying history and literature at st anne's college, oxford until roughly 12/12/07. i plan on joining/training with the OUCC once term is in session, with their road cycling team, since, sadly, they told me that they don't do very much with their track cycling team. i'll definitely stop by for polo, if anything just to watch, since the dozen or so times i played back in boston i would get way too aggressive (needlessly so) and end up fucking myself up. so i figured it was better to abstain from polo all together because i'd rather have my body in good condition for racing. alexis, do you work any specific times/days? i'll probably stop in ocw sometimes this week. like i said, i'm looking for a decent fixed that i can mess around on for this term - ride around oxford, travel into london and ride around there, and (most importantly) experience some european alleycats with (possibly paradise weekend in barcelona and the holloween alleycat in berlin). i feel like i need to start splitting my time between training on my road bike and training on a fixed gear the way i did back in boston. also, what are some good routes to ride in the area? i went to the oucc website wrote down one of the routes, ended up lost within 10 minutes of starting, found myself, wound up in thame (where the route didn't take me), and then tried to take the a40 back, which apparently near oxford is also the m40, and that ended up being a somewhat scary experience. ps. are cinelli and colnago track frames cheap(er) in italy? |
