London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

Really, mine are ugly as sin.

The brief:

The header and footer are to be made of three sections:
Left - Expandable
Centre - Fixed width, 800px wide.
Right - Expandable

The header and footer should be no more than 100px high.

The header should accommodate the forum name as a clickable area that always takes you 'home'. It should also be readable.

The header needs to have some space for highlighting major things that are coming up. So you should consider a text region, and if you are doing photos consider both a non-highlight area (photo) and a highlight area (photo faded + text?).

The header should hint at where we are... if it's photos having something as subtle as English street signs are enough. It must be obviously not USA or anywhere else.

The footer needs to be a definite end of the page. And only needs to encapsulate that what is currently in the grey bar at the bottom (links to the right, server time to the left).

The total weight of images/graphics must not exceed 50KB.
Any animation should be kept subtle and only used to enhance the header/footer.

I'll pick the best design and will pay £25 for it, or 3 shirts of your choice (providing we have them).

If someone wants to make a version that isn't quite so Rapha'd up or with such a bad image for a skyline then cool.

I'll always try and listen and do what the community wants (yes we'll have a poll), but the mass aren't always right (just look at politics in this country for a great example).

Something that calls car drivers cunts might win the popular vote, but let's not kid ourselves I'll not be making that the header.

i'm sure there'll be a stunning new design, it's a good idea.

For the record, Sano isn't actually that short. He's 5foot 8inches.

dogs you're not that tall, you're only average.

I was disappointed when I met Sano. I was expecting a rather small individual, but an average sized man was there instead.

On the other hand, all my expectations were met and exceeded with Shinscar.

Dogs is just jealous because Sano is good lucking and has a girlfriend, two things that he'll never experience himself.

this might be a supremely cack idea but could it be a group photo? i know there was talk of it and then you did the st pauls one, but could it be done proper like. in a line or something.

it could be done in sections like that epic trixie chix photo. perhaps lined up against the river on southbank with 'london' in the background. just a thought.

How hard is it to set up a random cookie generator... that can change the header/footer for the forum... which photoengers can submit photos to your spec 100px high etc. and the image changes.... like the bikepolo.ca blog. and have like a floating filled box above the image with london fixed gear ss blah in?

AND ... they even have it so you can vote for the image...ooo!

We could have snippiets of ride photos, bike photos, names and faces, POLO snaps even illustrations (the skyline)

I like this idea BTW as a more than happy compromise to my OP.
