| | berlin is AMAZING for bikes, i stayed in the more rougher area and the nice area, bikes EVERYWHERE.....i wish i had my bike so much when i was there. but if you see a man in a bomber jacket on the tube......its actually a woman that will pull out a card showing you she's a ticket inspector and telling you off because you've bought the ticket in which your meant to have a dog and when you get chucked off.....don't get back on the next one where she will be be again but fortunately too busy handing over some other guy to the german police. |

| | Exceptionally bike friendly city, if you have the time to spare, go there by train. Takes 24 hours from St.Panceras. Change at Lille, you'll need a bike bag. It's a sleeper, leave at 7pm arrive 7am. Relatively bike friendly. Berlin is relatively flat, you can take your bike on public transport of peak, nobody is in a hurry and the streets are paved with gold. Oh and they also have a dead nice Keirin shop where you can get a loverly cup of coffee. Last edited by stupidpony; 16th June 2008 at 06:39. Reason: needed edit. |

| | I haven't ridden there, but the streets look perfect for riding. London's streets are ridiculously narrow in comparison. Won't be any peds diving out in the roads either. My mate jaywalked when I was there and got a telling off from a random person in the street. I think people do it because they're concerned citizens rather than obeying every letter of the law. |

| | i went last august and hired a bike. it's great. cycle paths everywhere that people actually respect - it's a real no-no for a ped to walk in a cycle lane, and expect to get shouted at if you do. unlike here, where cycle paths are just pavement extensions for pushchairs and whoever fancies it. |

But I just need to reiterate Shinscars point, WATCH OUT for those feckin' tram lines ... i still have the scars. Once your wheel is in there, there's no getting it out. And there are lots of tram lines. | |

| | Berlin is insanely fun to cycle around. I went last year and I'm still thinking about moving there because of it. You'll have a lot of fun, and it's very bike friendly. If anyone knows of a place to buy fixed bikes in Berlin, can you let me know. I'm popping over there in a few weeks, and might make a purchase (the bikes are much, much cheaper than here). |

| | Yeah real good city for cycling. I went on a 3 hour cycle tour for free when I was there, guided by some knowledgable english student. Probably the best thing I did while I was over there. Of course it's probably a different guide now, but free rental and free tour can't be knocked. http://www.newberlintours.com/nbt/in...d=18&Itemid=32 |
