so as people start to drop like flies, whose still in? who might step up and take peoples places? Will this adventure die a death.....

i had a very quick look last night at train fairs and because i'm under 25 i can get a ticket as cheap as £75 or something!!!
maybe buying our own tickets will be a little cheaper THEN people may turn up!!

me and my mate richard are up for it! let me know the time train and i will happily book it. If we are doing a group booking let me know how to pay me money!!

any idea on accomidation? I can crash at a mates but just wondered what the rest of you guys werre thinking? may be we all share a cheap hotel?

I'll be back in London then but if you need any tips/advice....

By the way, Cornelius, it's definitely cheaper for 10+. We did it last year to Arles in the south of France for £85 each return all the way, whereas Eurostar was quoting £109 quid each just return to Paris before the group discount.

I've been avoiding saying this, but filming a short film in the next month or so, and it looks like one of the shoot days will be at carnival during the august bank holiday weekend. Which just so happens to be the weekend I put down for this jaunt. I didn't realise at the time that the bank holiday weekend is the last monday in august, rather than the last weekend in august. So I'm not going to be able to do that weekend. Which makes me one of the weasley last minute bailers I was railing against earlier, and is even worse since I'm the muppet thats supposed to be organising this.

So alternative is we rearrange for the following weekend, the 29th-31st, or the first weekend in september, 5th -7th. Or the strong amongst you who haven't bailed like my good self, go on the thread date 22nd-24th.

m-xl, the idea only dies a death if no one goes, if you go the idea lives. I am still up for this, just now can't do that weekend.
Haven't heard back from any of the bods who wanted to ride the whole thing, might be worth pm'ing them to see if they are still up for it and want to meet you there.

Otherwise whats the dilli O! Whose in and whose out? Date change or not?

Like i said earlier.... going to paris for a ride seems a wicked idea....aug. is not good for me but sept sounds alot more like it!!!

I'm in France when you guys are in Paris so will look at options of a rendezvous. I need some jazz club cigar action in my life!

I can't do the 22-24th but if it happens later on, I'm in.

I'd ride there from Dieppe with the other Brightonians.

i just got back from a weekend in Paris to watch the last stage of le Tour, and we took our bikes on the Eurostar.

We had a great time riding around Paris: wide roads, heaps of cycle lanes, bus lanes, courteous drivers... and of course the place is fucking scenic.

taking bikes on Eurostar is easy and free, as long as your bike is in a bike bag.

a recommended adventure.

It is very likely that I will now be able to do this. Either on the planned dates or in September. Going on Holiday earlier than excpected this year.
