| | Shippin Up To Boston! Hey yall, I'm leaving the homeland for six months and shippin up to Boston to work/drink. No reasons really bar inspirational films (the Departed, Gone Baby Gone and Good will Hunting) and the Dropkick Murphy's. So cue questions galore: Place to stay: I hear Harvard Av is a nice spot and Dorchester is full of Irish but slightly dodgy, other than that I haven't got a clue where to even look for a place. I meeting 2 lads over there but they're not the organised types and won't have anything sorted. Also I will have a bike so transport isn't an issue although the less travel needed the better. Recommendations? Work~: The plan is work construction for 2 months and earn enough cash to nearly cover accom for the rest of my stay, then get part time job in a bar or something, then once i know my way around work as a courier. Haven't got any connections there at all or contacts, anyone know anyone there? Play: Bike polo? hot spots for outdoor drinks, knacker drinking etc. Bike: Got two frames at home was thinking of bringing one over with me and fixing it over there, cos the dollars so shit I'd save myself a lot. They're only an old peugot and triumph frame so I was thinkin would I be better of picking up a frame over there or wha? Inspirational stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKyLgRzOTsY |

| | By the way Boston is fuckin brilliant. I'm here two weeks and on my first day i found a frame up for grabs right outside my place. Havent got a chance to get a crank tool or even measure it yet but i stripped it. Every sunday theres polo and i think theres like 3 or 4 teams, so cant wait to sort my bike for a bit o polo. And am I right in saying sheldon was from here or Harris cycles is at least. I nearly cream myself every day upon seeing some of the fixed gears, and the girls oh the girls. Even the quiet ones look hot on their rides. |

| | how did i miss this thread! you going to the polo at south station? check in at cambridge bikes (massa ave just outside of central square) or at revolution (near south station) for alleycats and fun stuff. i worked at cambridge for a few years, a bunch of really good people in there (most of whom were still there, last i checked...). good cheap drinks - stilhetto on brighton ave near where it turns into north beacon. all asia is decent, as is the middle east. and if you're still in boston when it happens, you HAVE to go to MassArt's iron pour. i can't remember when it is exactly, but it happens twice a year, and is brilliant. fire, music, art. awesome. man i miss boston. |
