just in surrey? well, yes, but it seems to be a rollercoaster landscape round this particular bit. there's some hills like brick walls, not that i have tried to ride up those. i'm on the surrey sussex border, near haslemere.

i envy you dude, the best local riding to london is to be had in the surrey hills. i just always have to spend about 20 miles of riding in boring suburbia before getting into them. don't know haslemere as such - sounds like it should be in up in the Lakes. anyway dude, will be good to have you out there on this ride to oxvoid.

well, I done 50 miles of rp this morning, on 1 five minute stop, 1 banana and 1/2 bottle of water.
3 hours 15 mins odd on 69 gear inches

I reckon that's a start.

in a moment I'm going to ride the free bike to Balham and eat a fucking massive pizza and get shitted on red

Me too! I thought they were the hills that run through Surrey and Kent.

it's boring and you end up almost losing count.

I need some earphones for my shItePod then i can get down to some tunes whilst grovelling round.

obviously the plan is to ride better places, but I had to be back by 12 today, otherwise I'd have gone on a club run

No, it's the North Downs in Kent. Once you get across to Surrey they become the 'North Dines', and are rubbish.

Are these anything to do with North, South Downs or are these different again?

Johhny,

Will you still do this if the weather is as grim as today. If so then that is dedication and you deserve at least a beer or 5 when we get to Oxford. Remind me when we get there.

Jonny, can't do tomorrow, sorry mate. Off to Nice for a couple of days.

Have a good ride and do a reccy on some good drinking holes in Oxford. I'd like one with good ale, a convivial atmosphere and a large beer garden scattered with friendly lady folk.

Looking at the route. As you come into Oxford, I'd suggest heading around the eastern bypass (nice big cycle lane/road) to Iffley Rd, rather than Cowley. You can then pop by the very cool OCW, on Magdalen Rd. Also a nicer road to cycle on than Cowley, which is a pile of poo death trap.
