That picture is 'fucking lush' (as you might put it). So are the components and extras. The white decals are great btw.

Question: where'd you get the Honjos? And where are the stays?

Have fun building it.
I might wait OR I might just be dead careful with it. Hmm. I take your point but I'm not sure I can wait.

I'm mostly very pleased with the paint. Thanks for your advice therein.

Honjos from Planet X. They're narrow at 35mm. Stays are out of shot in a bag. See first picture.

Is that photographic talk up top? it was taken on a white sheet in the very last of Saturday afternoon's light. The original image was dark and blue. No decent equipment other than a smart camera (Canon 40d I believe). I just zapped the shit out of it in potatochop.
Yeah it was really funny, I saw his bike and we started talking, then the forum came into conversation, and I was like are you on there and he said yeah, and I said i'm CrazyJames, and he was like ahhhh so you're CrazyJames, haha I always seem to provoke that kinda reaction?!
Anyways it was cool meeting him and talking bikes, maybe catch up with you sometime as well soon mate, oh yeah ignore the photographic geekery, I thought you shot it with flash.

Make that three of us! I've managed to bend the chainring on mine though - proper nightmare to find any replacement parts, even the chainring bolts have to be imported from the US.

Should have the year stamped as part of the serial number on the BB shell. Mine's from 1975 - same model, paint job etc etc

IRLeo That's what I just asked him, when I asked where he got his Honjos (the name of them). Planet X. They're nice innit! But not cheap.

hehe, yeh just saw that, i should have read the whole thread really. Certainly not cheap but you get what you pay for, eh? And sometimes there is no way round it. I got some similar on ebay last spring second hand which cost even more (but that was mainly cos of one of those bidders who keeps pushing it up rather than just deciding whar their max bid is), which went on my girlfriends bike, which I posted up here.

the Honjos definitely represent a biting of the bullet. I shall not be regretting them though, unless I can't fit them between my close-clearance skeleton brakes and the 25mm tyres (though I'm assured it's possible). They're really well made and light too. mine are the non-fluted narrow versions.

Definitely a biting the bullet time, I bought a pait of c-record pista cranks for the same price I paid for the mud-guards the same week, but they are definitely worth the money. I have never seen people so interested in mud-guards before, me included, they are quite a focal point.Looking forward to seing yours built up, I'm sure it's gonna look very classy.

you could always take all the parts off and start again,,, easy.

then do a single frame animation (is that what its called) of all the components going on...........

think of the big propz, do it!

How many 14-ish cm 1A stems with wrapped handlebars do you have?
I cannot imagine that you spoil another set of bar tape each time you change the colours/setup.

;-)

I think it looked better with the brown regal. Maybe go for the brown suede finish fizik bar tape to get a better match to the saddle?

Mystery road/path frame.
I just need some french threaded pedals, bb nipple, seatpost bolt and white cloth bartape to finish.
If I can find out who made the frame, i'll get it refinished in more period colours.

Josh- this looks like it will build up way beyond lovely. Great work on the photography, too- although I'd have expected nothing less...

I'd love to see the finished bike in the flesh sometime (if I am ever in London again...)

Golden Flares...... mark up the bars very accurately with a fine marker, one first, cut with a tensioned, new hacksaw blade, use offcut to mark up other side, file ends for final finish and fine tune.. feint heart never won maiden fair !p
ps use a vice to hold the bars while cutting

I just aquired a frame for a project, does anybody know much about Old Look Carbon frames and what problems I should keep an eye out for.
Do I have to use special paint on Carbon?
This is going to be a slow burning project due to other commitments but I am looking forward to it and having something unique to ride, that hopefully doesn't creak and squeek like my current bike.
