Brooks saddles

I'm wanting a Brooks saddle for my build (which might look something like this...

Which model do you think that it? I was thinking the B17 Titanium. Looking at the Brooks website a more 'racey' Swift model is available (which is lighter too) but I've no expereince of Brooks saddles as my road bikes have Selle Italia/Fizik race saddles.

Can anyone recommend a particular model of Brooks from experience?

Thanks,

Even the cheapest Brook B-17 saddle is comfortable as fuck, any will be fine thought, the B-17 doesn't make your bike look racy mind, it look more suited to a relaxed cruiser bike (like a Kona Smoke, well mine at least).

swallow could be a good one, and remember it be weird and uncomfortable (but not sore) at first, until the saddle slowly molded to the shape of your bum, it's heaven, even thought there's no cushion.

I'll go and have a look at Swallow's today but Wow! £150 for the titanium version. I hope that comes with a personal bum-cheek massage from a couple of good looking Brooks' employees.

swift or professional. you can get them new or almost new on ebay, with titanium rails for £50-60.

I have a cut away Swift, very comfortable and has copper rivets.

I've got a team pro, been a good saddle for me, and big copper rivets look hot.

You can always do some butchering if you want the racey cut-away look. Seems to look better with the Pro than B17 because the rails sit higher.

I might be wrong but I think the saddle in the picture's a Team Professional, not a B17 - beautiful and very comfy saddle (I have one, and I prefer it to both the Swift and the Swallow I used to have). Good luck with the build!

Team pro has a differnet logo. It's sort of ribbon shaped rather than blob shaped (at least mine is)

it can't work if it's a bespoke 50's track frame or some kind of njs blingzilla.

Reading on the Brooks website I shouldn't be getting the saddle wet and should ensure its underside is well covered in Proofide. How practical is this and does it stop the saddle from being ruined? I currently ride in all weathers and the undersides of my saddles are usually covered in crap, not a problem as they're carbon/plastic.

there is a way I read some where, you use paper foil from the kickchen, and wrap the saddler, them in the gap betwwen the foil and the saddle you pour the stuff, oil, whatever you use, and let it rest for a couple of hours. then take the saddle and let it rest fornight, and apparetly there you go. I have never done myself, but sound good enough to be true, and with this the saddle is save

I hope it helps in some how

i would nt do the neats foot treatment mentioned above unless you read v.careful sheldons advice. BDwayne told me he did it and he couldn't get no purchase from his arse, but i think wayne might have neats'd the top not the underside. I proofided mine and its great, its also ancient and was covered in funghi when i got it, now its lovely. I also think that is a 'professional' but mine is an old version with diff logo.

I neats footed the fuck out of my team pro. Made my arse stink. Thankfully it didnt fit the seatpost on my new bike, so its in a carrier bag on my shelf.
