| | Sadly, we can't even blame Boris (but it was in his manifesto). TfL did a pilot bit of research (Pistanator is right, it was the A23) in 2006 on it, and then some more in 2007, probably cos the 2006 research didn't come up with the right answer. There is some figure being bandied about that it reduced motorbike related accidents. What's more worrying is that those 'licensed mini cab'* people might get access to it soon too. * ie blind cnuts |

| | Indeed. I imagine the black cabbies will be up in arms about them. #puts daily mail on dashboard, turns on radio 5, makes derogatory remarks about anyone who isn't a white, fat, middle aged, xenophobic man# Did i tell you who I 'ad in the back of my cab last week etc... |

| | So we're all agreed that scooter drivers are cunts? Good. I hate them. 'Real' motorcyclists have been, in my experience, the most aware, courteous and generous road users. I'd say the relationship is a bit like skaters, BMXers and rollerbladers. (With scooter drivers taking the role of the fruit-booters). |

I like the way cabbies have reversed the MSM driving-school mantra to mean: Maneouvre, Signal, Mirror.

What do they have to learn, how to do u-turns in the middle of the road without warning, 3point turns without warning, how not to use an indicator or pulling over to collect a fare without indicating? Or none of the above, is it just to see how racist they can actually be? Complete tonsils the lot of 'em!

| | Its just a bad idea, and this is why: Having cyclists and motorcyclists sharing the same bus-lane will result in crashes, bad accidents, and those recent lady cyclists (that have gingerly ventured from the pavement, to the bus-lanes) abandoning the whole cycling experiment altogether. Not the way the "green" our city. Boris, are you listening? |

| | i ride a motorbike too and have used that part of brixton road that's been on trial quite a lot. I can't see the problem. When i'm on a push bike - which is the majority of the time - i've never been sliced by so close my rectum contracts by a motorbike. I have had it done by cars though, in fact one knocked it's wing morror off on my arse, so i don't really have that image of all motorcyclists being some sort of speed merchants with no respect. Less hate, more love. Possibly. B. |
