| | bought an 07 langster new for £350 over a year ago, sanded it and painted it (to get rid of the rust colour and skulls), added some risers and a new brake lever, and left everything else stock. Haven't had a thing go wrong with it (except the cog and lockring have loosened a couple of times) and I have pretty much abused it...not bad for having a 15 stone lad skidding everywhere on it. I know it is mainly the geometry that people don't like and the fact a lot of nuggets buy them but mine has served me well. Got me hooked onto fixed gear riding which is a good thing. I'm now building up my own bike exactly how I want it and will probably sell my langster. I'm dubious that my new build will be as light and generally as good as my langster though. Maybe when I build my own I will see the problem with the langster but I have tried other steel and alu framed bikes and I have always preffered the langster. I definitely think they serve their purpose (except for the horrible city-themed versions!). |

| | The tyre was an easy fix, chain has slacked off a bit after a 50km ride today where the chain wheel loosened off on me so took the tension off till i can get some loctite on those bastards. Just gotta get a new saddle and it should be a half decent rig, got my eyes on a nice san marco rolls with a touch of gold which should go alright with the chain. ![]() |

| | My Ganster (geddit?) is currently undergoing a transformation. It's going from poo brown to a pink and black mean machine. I bought it without having much of a clue about fixed bikes and loved it. I'm now making it look waaay G. Also I used to skate, so that makes me cool enough, right? I may have drunk too much coffee before posting. |

| | Personally - rode one, *really* didn't like it. The Alu-Carbon mix just didn't work for me. Steel all the way since. there is more to life than langster...& similarly priced alternatives available have been discussed: http://www.londonfgss.com/post189082-53.html (the definitive OTP list) However I have to fess, I own another specialized (single speed centrum) and I look forward to the "Vegas" version of that! |

| | Not a fan of langsters at all. Fixed is about simplicity and generally not being affected by much amirite? As soon as you slam that into the back of a car say bye bye to the forks, and the frame won't be up to a lot either. Tubes look horrible being that thick and it looks like an MTB frame cos it's quite compact (think that's how i see them) steel is the way forward. Looks and materials just don't cut it for me. |

The style of that bike is down to each individual rider to choose. And i'd hardly call 'slamming it into the back of a car' not affecting it by much. Maybe you should stop worrying what fixed is 'about' and start worrying about your apparent inability to 'stop'....amirite?

why on earth would you 'slam' it into the back of a car? Can a BJ / Mercian et al be 'slam'med into the back of a car with complete abandon...if so I'm definetely getting one. my '06 Langster has just clocked 10k miles.....and like Triggers broom its still going strong! And I think I just look like a bloke riding a bike when I'm riding it. when I want to pose I take my Ferrari out for a spin.
