London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

Hey there, Don't see many Newcastle upon Tyne riders around here. Just been on a night ride around the city and was thinking about organising some kind of city ride or race. I know one or two people who would do it but was wondering if anyone else on here would?

From the amount of fixed-gear riders I see around town (2 in the past year) I think it would have to be more like, anyone on a bike/road bike is welcome to ride.

Could try and get interest by flyering 'interesting' bikes parked around the city.

Me and my flatmate ride fixed and live in Middlesbrough right now. We'd be up for it for sure. A night ride would be awesome. We're in Middeslrbough until mid-August so count us in until then.

I'm newcastle born and bred, Would be well up for this (I may have the most hip hop slave bike in the whole of newcastle).

When are you planning it? I'm in London but I would actually make the trip north with bike for this.

Not sure when to do this but not for a few months, need to get fitter.

I think a ride would be a bit better as a newcastle race might last about 5 or 6 mins.

I reckon some form of gentle ride round the sites of newcastle, followed perhaps by some form of time trial, would be best. Maybe a hillclimb? Start at the Tyne bridge and finish at monument?

I am back in newcastle between the 6th and 19th of june, with bike.

Now, as some of you may know, it's the tynedale beer festival on the 12th-14th June. I am struggling to find some way of combining the beer festival and a bike ride... any suggestions?

Newcastle people PM me with suggestions/dates for a ride, or whether you'd be keen on some form of beer festival related ride (weather dependent obviously).

I have 2 good friends who ride fixed and know a few more friends-of-friends who would probably be interested so lets organise a night ride. asm, ill PM you with my mob number, give me a text or something this weekend we can arrange something.

Let's get it sorted. I was up in Newcastle last week and loved it (first time) and I'm going up in a couple of weeks to see the uni (applying there for medecine degree). As long as I'm not in Glasgow I can come to Newcastle. I'd be up for a night ride.

Nice one guys, glad this is happening. I get off the train, tri-spoke, ortleib (with spare clincher front wheel) and all at quarter to four, if anyone wants to meet and make a beeline to a pub (the forth?) Let me know. Currently enjoying the luxuries of free train-bound internet.

A big thanks to Ali for meeting me outside Central station - legend! Ended up riding back to mine from Jesmond - 10 miles in half an hour... reckon i need to improve on that!

Ok guys, I'm free most days until the 19th June - when do you lot fancy it? I think after the 11th is best for a lot of people.

ok ladies and gents. i think that this coming thursday (12th) sound the best for everyone?? we could go for an early evening ride, pint/food somewhere - then night time antics, tt's, skatepark fun, hide and seek, whatever. ricky ill give u a ring tomorrow.

Thursday should be fine for me. I'll be in Hxhxm until 5.30ish but I'll be back and ready by 6.30. Gots me a temporary non-gooch-ruining saddle too !

Sounds good. I'm working until 4pm in Middlesbrough and I'll be able to get up for 5:30ish. No beer for me because I'll be driving back down in the morning unless someone wants to put me up for the night.

Anyone know of a good place to park the death cage. I can get parking on expenses so cost doesn't matter. Last time I parked in Dean St. car park.

could park somewhere in heaton depending on where we're all meeting !? its free there. Either that or you could park at the carpark in front of st james park ?!
