So I've got an old 10 speed. Want to convert it to fixed...

I was wondering how easy it is to fix the freewheel on the rear wheel? Is this easy to do?

Thanks

unscrew it, buy a 1-speed freewheel off ebay, take the wheel to a bike shop and ask them to take the dish out of it for a straight chainline with your new freewheel. Shorten the chain and you're laughing.

That'll give a single-speed. For fixed just buy a cheap fixed hub rear wheel off someone. There must be 10s if not 100s lying around unused in London.

Don't go thinking it's that easy to be a puppy killa, you gotta earn that shit, ya hear?!

If it's not a prestigious marque then convert away, puppy free.

im a bit of a procrastinator,

I really love bikes of all sorts, butI set myself silly low budgets and end up with an array of non-functional bikes, and bodged ones which it takes me slow months to gather bits for.

Hippy's advice is indeed top notch, although I hope hes isnt really a crusty hippie....

The drvetrain on a fixie is where its at. So few parts compared to a geared bike, much less hassle, and MUCH LESS COST.

Take the opportunity to buy yourself a shiny new wheel, you wont reget it - it be the core of your riding experience.

Price of old 10 speed bike: £40 Price of nice of fixed wheel £100

Total: £140

Still cheaper than one of these:
