...CPU usage by the ArrospokEye. I was wondering why my computer runs slow whenever I have this website open, so I opened up the CPU Monitor on my Mac. Whenever the header is in view on the screen - the bit with the cityscape - the CPU maxes out. Is there any reason why?

Yup. you need an upgrade. On my 2.3GHz Dual Core it doesn't even register on CPU.

Or you could switch off animations in your browser. In Firefox, it's the image.animation_mode
option on the about:config page, I think. Also, I think pressing Esc while the page is up will stop any currently running animations.

I've swapped it out for a non-animated one.

It's a website, upgrades to computers should not be required.

Mines a lowly old 400Mhz iMac, but she keeps on going. When she dies I'll upgrade. ;-)

Thanks VB but it seems a little unfair that everyone else - with modern computers - misses out on the lovely spinning 'spok.

Where do you find the bit to switch off animations? What is the about:config page?

Oh, I'm sure it can be made so that it has a lower CPU usage. fewer frames spaced more widely apart in time?

If you're using firefox (and you should be), type about:config in the address bar and hit enter. Then search it to find the relevent config entry to edit.

Don't like the stupid animated arrospok anyway. I run boringold32h. I see enough spokage on Old st.
