Track Pumps

Had a search and couldnt find anything on this but am prepared to be wrong if you can link to it.

Im after a Track Pump for home as all ive been using is a mini pump to inflate my tires and im pretty sure there no where near what they should be at.

Can someone recommend a good track pump at around £10-£20

thanks

I got one in Decathlon for less than 20 which works pretty well. It's plastic but fairly robust.

Why would anyone use a track pump if they're not riding on the track?

it gives you a more zen feel whilst pumping- you know more connected to the air.
Its a more organic experience, and you and the air just seem to become one.

had it for about 4yrs. does the job but doesnt have a dual head. you'll need to screw the adaptor on the presta valve every time.

I had it on good authority (from my favorite sociologist) that these pumps were originally used by slaves, favored for their cheapness and simplicity. These slaves then escaped to NewYork, a city well noted for it love of the latest ethnic craze, where the craze then caught on and soon the world was "rocking" the track pump.

It's a good price

Could get chain reaction etc to pricematch if you've already got an account with them.

Silca are the best....Joe Blow's are shit, unless you've never owned a track pump before then you might think they are good......

Just noticed, as I was looking to buy a track pump for work (cheap) and one for home; that many of the cheaper track pumps don't say how much they pump up to anymore. Was I dreaming or did they all used to have the psi in the adverts and on the packaging....back in the day? Evans Cyclesurgery, Wiggle, et al, all have track pumps with no psi listed. Should I just head to LIDLs or TESCOs like some of you guys have done? I (stupidly?) thought that it would be a better pump from a bike shop?

I tried Peckham Lidl but they were a track pump free zone. So got a Bontrager Charger from Evans, £19.99, metal barrel, double head, gauge at the top of the pump for easy reading. My tyres say max pressure is 90psi so took them up to that. Do you guys go over the recommended max or just have tougher tyres?

I read the blurb either from supplier (usually Parker for me) or manufacturer's web site. IMO tubes make a difference too, Recommend Vredestein butyl @ £2.50. !00=110psi normal road use to absorb rotten London roads 120psi Richmond Park, 130-140 cat racing.

My Dillos on my Bowery are 120psi, but the shop said they put about 130psi in them. Like riding circles of stone, but no flats. I think its okay to over pump by a few pounds, as that comes back out when you release the pump. Anybody agree?

I did some looking around, and I'm going to try 2 get 2 pumps from Tesco
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-5179.aspx (like MisterK did).

I did find though that it pays to shop around, because what I thought was a cheapish pump from Argos, is actually more than twice the price of an internet shop.

Amazing difference in prices. Sorry VanUden, that I didn't post this before your buy.

Are these actually going to get any pressure in your tires though? I'd worry they'd brake near 100psi
